FedEx's SmartPost, which funnels shipments to the Postal Service, primed for 85-percent capacity increase

"... FedEx will expand the capacity of its formidable ground parcel unit, FedEx Ground, so it can handle 45 percent more shipments by its 2018 fiscal year. FedEx's SmartPost operation, through which it funnels mostly e-commerce shipments to the U.S. Postal Service for "last-mile" delivery to residences and some businesses, is primed for an 85-percent capacity increase over that time frame, reflecting what is expected to be explosive growth in the volume of merchandise ordered online. ..."
