The dismantling of an American institution

The U.S. Postal Service, in a raping of a service that binds our country from rural areas to big cities, has decided it is in their best business interest to close thousands of Post Offices across this great nation. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, "The news is crushing in many remote communities where the post office is often the heart of the town and the closest link to the rest of the country. Shuttering them, critics say, also puts an enormous burden on people, particularly on the elderly, who find it difficult to travel out of town." Of course, the move comes after postal executives received large sums of money as incentive pay for themselves as reported in the Washington Times, where the article reports the outgoing Postmaster General was paid $228,088 in incentives and sharing other incentive pay with other top executives. Oddly, the same executives of this public service, while yelling doom and gloom over financial losses under their care, were rewarded these incentives while at the same time refusing to negotiate modest raises for the unionized workforce. The big question is whether or not congress will put a stop to this raping of guaranteed Universal Service. Something is horribly wrong here ...and the American public will be left to suffer the loss of this once great service.
